Knit and crochet hobbyists from around the globe have stitched a 14-foot wide blanket emblazoned with a Nike Swoosh to act as a petition for fair labor policies for Nike garment workers. The Nike Blanket Petition is made from 4 x 4 inch knitted or crocheted squares, each square acting as petition.
Cat Mazza of MicroRevolt launched the initiative which has brought together hand-made squares and virtual signatures from over 20 countries.
This summer, the Nike Blanket Petition will be delivered to Nike CEO Phil Knight along with a letter demanding that Nike apparel be manufactured in accordance with established International Labor Organization conventions.
